Latest as minister says UK could leave ECHR to push through asylum policy
Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick has suggested that the UK could leave the European Convention on Human Rights in order to push through its asylum policy, saying: āWe will do whatever is required, take whatever necessary action is needed.ā
Meanwhile, Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has slammed the Governmentās ābrokenā asylum system, which she says is ācosting the taxpayer billions of poundsā.
It comes amid the news that the UK and Turkey have agreed to a new partnership in a bid to target people smuggling gangs in the latest bid to crackdown on small boats crossing the Channel.
