UK lawyers could be stationed in Rwandan courts to make deportation flights work
Lawyers representing the British government could be stationed in Rwandan courts under a new treaty to help enforce deportation flights, according to reports.
The deal has been discussed by negotiators and Home Secretary James Cleverly could fly to the country this week to sign the agreement, the Telegraph reported.
It comes after the Supreme Court ruled last month that the Rwanda scheme was unlawful due to the risk of asylum seekers being returned to their home country, breaching UK and international human rights laws.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has insisted that the scheme intended to curb illegal migration will go ahead regardless.
Elsewhere, Sir Keir Starmer is due to say āgrowth must become Labourās obsessionā to pull Britain out of an economic situation after 13 years of Conservative leadership.
