One killed and two injured in Halifax town centre stabbing attack

One man has died and two others have been injured in a stabbing attack in Halifax town centre.

The serious incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, West Yorkshire Police said.

Officers were called to Commercial Street, Halifax, to reports that three men had been assaulted at 3.48am.

All three men were taken to hospital with stabbed wounds. One has died while another remains in a critical condition. The third man has been treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

A significant police presence remains in place in the town centre while the force conducts specialist searches and forensic enquiries.

The investigation is in its very early stages and further information will be released in due course, West Yorkshire Police said.

The force also thanked the public and local businesses for their patience.
