When do Tesco vouchers change? How the Clubcard scheme is changing and why

Tesco is changing its Clubcard scheme from Wednesday 14 June, meaning your points will now be worth less when exchanged for reward codes.

The supermarket said it was changing the scheme “to make sure we can continue to provide a wide range of rewards that meet the needs of all our Tesco Clubcard members, while keeping prices low for everyone”.

How is the Tesco Clubcard scheme changing?

When spent in-store, 100 Tesco Clubcard points can be redeemed for £1 off your shopping.

However, the scheme also allows people to redeem points for vouchers with a list of over 100 partners, such as Hotels.com, Cineworld and Pizza Express.

Points exchanged for these vouchers are currently worth three times their value, so 100 points would get you a £3 discount on your chosen activity.

However, from 14 June, when you exchange your Tesco Clubcard vouchers for a reward partner code they will be worth twice their value, meaning £100 is worth £2.

What happens to my existing vouchers?

Any existing vouchers ordered on or before 13 June will still be worth three times their value. They will also be valid for 12 months, rather than the usual six.

Tesco said: “To give you extra time to decide when to use your Tesco Clubcard vouchers with partners, we’re extending the validity period on Tesco Clubcard reward partner codes ordered until 13 June, so that they’re valid for 12 months, rather than the usual six months. So don’t worry, there’s plenty of time to use them at their current value before we make the change.

“If you already have a Tesco Clubcard reward partner code, you can still use it at up to three times the value until its expiry date. The expiry date can be found in your order email or in the my rewards section in the Tesco Grocery and Clubcard app.”
