Several countries ready to sign up to Rwanda-style deals, James Cleverly tells MPs

A number of countries are poised to negotiate Rwanda-style deportation deals with the UK if the Government manages to make the plan legal, the Home Secretary has told MPs.

James Cleverly said other governments were following developments and would agree to sign up to similar schemes if the Rwanda plan could be “demonstrated to work”, The Times reported.

Meanwhile, Professor Dame Jenny Harries will continue her evidence at the Covid-19 Inquiry. Former health secretary Sajid Javid and former deputy prime minister Dominic Raab will also appear.
