Mother charged with murder of 10-year-old Shay Kang in West Midlands
The mother of 10-year-old schoolgirl Shay Kang who was found dead at their home has been charged with murder.
Jaskirat Kaur, also known as Jasmine Kang, will appear before Wolverhampton magistrates today , West Midlands Police said.
Shay was found with injuries at an address in Rowley Regis at around 12.10pm on Monday and pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem will be held to establish the cause of her death.
Det Insp Dan Jarratt, leading the investigation, said: âOur thoughts remain with Shayâs family and friends.
âHer tragic death has had a profound impact on those who knew her as well as the wider community.
âWe ask that they are left to grieve in private as our enquiries continue.â
Brickhouse Primary School, which Shay attended, paid tribute to her, saying she was a âbrightâ and âloving childâ who would be âvery sadly missed by everyoneâ.
In a statement, the school said: âOur school is deeply saddened by the tragic death of one of our children.
âSchool is the heart of the community and we have already begun working with our children and staff to support them following this devastating news.â
A fundraiser has been launched to help with the costs of the schoolgirlâs funeral, flowers and a headstone.
