Latest as Government to unveil long-awaited NHS workforce plan on ‘hugely important day’

The Government is set to unveil its long-awaited plan to fill NHS staffing shortages this morning.

The 15-year strategy is expected to include an expansion in training places for health staff in England, but will not include anything on pay, despite the ongoing strike action within the NHS.

Elsewhere, the Government’s legal challenge over the UK’s Covid Inquiry is expected to begin in the high court today.

The Government is challenging the inquiry’s demand for former prime minister Boris Johnson’s unredacted WhatsApp messages, diaries and personal notebooks.
